Raymond McGhee, Jr.

Raymond McGhee is an independent consultant executive coach working with individuals to advance their careers and with different nonprofit organizations on strategy development.
In 2024, Raymond retired from the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation (RWJF) where he used his expertise—in research and evaluation studies, and program design—to support grantees funded by the Foundation’s Research-Evaluation-Learning team. In this role, he worked across various RWJF program areas to advise on key research and evaluation efforts and award competitive grants to a variety of organizations.
Before coming to RWJF, Raymond served as senior director of Equal Measure, a nonprofit evaluation and philanthropic services firm based in Philadelphia. His wide-ranging work included coordination of strategic development and capacity building for the National Science Foundation and the California Endowment.
Prior to his work with Equal Measure, Raymond was a senior researcher with SRI International. He directed evaluations of major projects funded by federal agencies and foundations, including the U.S. Department of Education, the National Science Foundation, and the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation.
A U.S. Navy veteran, Raymond earned a BA in linguistics; an MA in applied linguistics; and a PhD in social sciences and education from the University of California, Los Angeles.
