Rhonelle Bruder
Rhonelle Bruder is a Visiting Fellow at Harvard University, where she teaches courses within the Faculty of Arts and Sciences and facilitates pedagogical training at Harvard's Derek Bok Center for Teaching and Learning. She is also a Ph.D. Candidate in Social and Behavioural Health Sciences at the University of Toronto’s Dalla Lana School of Public Health.
Drawing on her lived experience as a survivor, Rhonelle founded and served as Executive Director of Project iRISE, a community-based organization that provided critical support to women affected by sex trafficking. Under her leadership, Project iRISE developed pioneering initiatives, including a leadership development program and one of the first branding tattoo removal services for survivors. She continues to provide consulting services to organizations and government agencies, designing strategies, training, and tools to strengthen anti-trafficking efforts and reduce health disparities.
As both a survivor and scholar, Rhonelle brings a unique and powerful perspective to her work. She is a sought-after speaker, trainer, and lecturer, frequently invited to share her expertise with diverse audiences. She has provided expert testimony on sex trafficking issues in state and federal courts and has published widely in peer-reviewed journals, contributing to the advancement of survivor-centred research and policy.
